President Tshisekedi, 2nd Vice President of the African Union
Between President Tshisekedi and the African Union, things started rather badly. The latter having quite strongly questioned the legitimacy of the ballot boxes as proclaimed by CENI.

All it took was a passionate speech in the gallery of the African Union at the Summit of Heads of State on 10 February in Addis Ababa to open a new page between the continental institution and the new Congolese Head of State.

This Summit, which also saw the rotating Presidency of the AU move from the hands of Rwandan President Paul Kagame to those of President Fattah al-Sissi of Egypt, also honoured the DRC by electing the Congolese President as the 2nd Vice-President of the Union.
